Terravita

Terravita Downtown is the third location of a restaurant concept built around elevated dining and a distinctly designed environment. Located in downtown Manhattan, the 3,600-square-foot space was conceived by owners Jose and Stephanie Rosa around an earth-toned palette of terracotta, stone, and cork, with high ceilings and grand columns.

The direction for the audio system was established well before any product was specified. While dining at Mēdüzā Mediterrania in New York City, recognized for its elevated design, vibrant atmosphere, and live entertainment, Jose Rosa was struck by the quality of the sound: warm, immersive, and evenly present throughout the space. He investigated the system and discovered it was powered by K-array. That experience became the benchmark for Terravita Downtown: a system capable of delivering powerful, full-room coverage while remaining elegant within the architecture.

The system was designed around two priorities: keeping all hardware out of the sightlines of a carefully designed interior, and delivering uniform SPL coverage to every seat in the room. Speakers were positioned high to avoid any visual intrusion at eye level. Low-frequency units were recessed into banquettes and surrounding walls, removing them from view entirely.

The main dining area is covered by 16 Kayman-KY52 line array speakers, mounted to the columns and upper walls throughout the space. Six Rumble-KU212 are recessed into banquettes and surrounding walls, providing low-frequency support.

The private dining room uses a simpler configuration suited to the smaller space. Four Tornado-KT2 point source speakers are mounted in the corners of the room, providing even coverage across all positions. A single Rumble-KU210 compact subwoofer is recessed into the wall without occupying floor space or breaking the room's clean lines.

Uniform coverage throughout both spaces, no visible hardware, and a low-frequency response that supports the room without overpowering it. The system does what it was designed to do, and the rest takes care of itself. At Terravita, that was always the goal: a space that sounds exactly right, without revealing the secrets behind it.
