Yamashiro Miami

For the first time since opening in the Hollywood Hills in 1914, Yamashiro has expanded beyond Los Angeles with a new location in downtown Miami. Located on the ninth-floor rooftop of the Gale Miami Hotel & Residences, Yamashiro Miami brings the restaurant’s century-old legacy into an open-air environment overlooking the city skyline.

Developed and operated by Boulevard Hospitality Group, Yamashiro Miami features a 9,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor design that blends traditional Japanese temple aesthetics with Miami's vibrant, high-energy atmosphere. It is designed as a Zen-inspired escape that also functions as a nightlife destination, requiring an audio system capable of adapting from daytime to evening entertainment.

The exposed rooftop environment presented a unique challenge; exposed to Miami’s sun, wind, humidity, and rain, the installation required components built for long-term outdoor use. The system also needed to complement, rather than compete with, the panoramic views and upscale surroundings that define Yamashiro.

DRVCS AV designed an audio system using K-array IP-rated Python KP52 I line array speakers, selected for their compact form factor and controlled dispersion, allowing even coverage across the rooftop. Low-frequency support is provided by Thunder KS2P I subwoofers, housed in custom wooden enclosures designed to match the venue’s finishes. The entire system is powered by Kommander KA208 amplifiers.

By combining compact, weather-resistant loudspeakers with carefully planned placement, the audio system supports Yamashiro Miami’s dual identity as both a refined dining destination and an evening nightlife venue. Music remains clear and detailed at low levels during dining hours, with the capacity to support higher-energy live music and DJ sets without the need for temporary equipment
