Osteria Mozza

In Georgetown's historic market space, Osteria Mozza has made its East Coast debut as a collaboration between acclaimed restaurateur Stephen Starr and Michelin-starred chef Nancy Silverton. The 20,000-square-foot restaurant features an Italian marketplace and innovative Mozzarella Bar, overlooking a sprawling dining room and an open kitchen. The solarium, with its floor-to-ceiling windows, creates a year round indoor-outdoor atmosphere reminiscent of the Italian countryside.

Creating the perfect dining experience goes beyond the menu and decor. Enter integrator OhmComm, who conceived the audio design for Osteria Mozza's expansive Georgetown space. Their task was complex: develop a system that could integrate with the restaurant's Italian aesthetic while delivering exceptional sound quality across multiple ceiling heights and surfaces.

Speaker placement throughout the restaurant demonstrates thoughtful consideration of the multiple areas within Mozza. In the Main Dining Room, 2 discreet Vyper-KV102W II line array speakers and 6 elegant Python-KP52W I speakers provide focused listening and high intelligibility while 4 ultra thin KU210W Rumble subwoofers deliver high performance, low end support. The Italian Marketplace features 4 Vyper-KV102W II line array speakers paired with 6 Rumble-KU26 compact subwoofers ensuring a full-bodied sound experience throughout this section of the restaurant. These areas are powered by 1 Kommander-KA68 8-channel and 1 KA04 I 4-channel fully featured class-D amplifiers.

The Solarium is equipped with a full suite of KGEAR by K-array products including 16 GF22 compact column speakers and 5 GS6 compact subwoofers both powered by GA201 amplifiers.  The Private Dining Room also utilizes KGEAR featuring four GF42W I line array speakers complemented by 2 additional GS6 subwoofers and 1 GA201 mini power amplifier.

“This is a truly beautiful installation done by OhmComm and is yet another that shows how K-array and KGEAR products can co-exist in a hospitality environment,” states Rusty Waite, President of K-array USA

Each speaker and subwoofer is strategically positioned to complement Osteria Mozza's architectural features from the lively main dining room to the intimate private dining areas. The result is a custom audio system that can easily adapt to multiple surfaces and venue capacities, enhancing the culinary journey at one of Washington DC's most anticipated dining destinations.

“Many thanks to the K-array and Audio Associates teams for going above and beyond in assisting from design to implementation! The space is indeed a cavernous venue that had many challenges to overcome. I don’t think a different manufacturer nor representative has brought both the quality of aesthetic and the level of service to any of our installations over 25 years in the business.” - Kar Vivekananthan, Owner of Ohmcomm, Inc.
