In Pointe Milou, St. Barth’s, Villa Nougat was imagined as more than a vacation home. Designed as a retreat for family and guests, the luxury property takes its inspiration from a private resort, with themed guest suites, multiple cabanas, and a separate guest villa. Hospitality is central to the experience, and the technology throughout the property was designed to support it.
Architech Designs handled the audiovisual integration, including audio, control, and the system backbone. Working alongside architecture and interior design firm Winch Design, the team selected K-array as the villa’s primary audio system, making it a central part of the property's entertainment experience.
One of Villa Nougat’s characteristics is its open floor plan. Interior spaces open fully to the outdoors, creating a continuous environment with natural flow. The architecture encourages guests to move freely between indoor living areas and outdoor spaces, making consistent access to music an important part of how the property functions.
The 16-zone audio system was designed to remain visually discreet while delivering a distinct listening experience in each environment. The exterior lounges can accommodate the energy and output of a club setting, while the main living room offers a full cinematic experience with no visible speakers interrupting the interior design. The dining and fitness areas have a more energetic character, while the bedrooms, guest cabins, sauna, and outdoor lounges provide a more relaxed listening experience.
The K-array system was selected in part for its form factor and ability to integrate with the architecture. Speakers were mounted on posts and positioned to blend into the surroundings without competing with the villa’s design. Marine-grade Vyper, Python, and Tornado speakers, supported by Rumble subwoofers, form the audio system throughout the property.
Architech Designs incorporated a Crestron Simpl system as the control backbone, with K-array serving as the primary audio system. The team managed the logistics and installation, working closely with K-array and an on-site subcontractor who assisted with wiring and installation.
Villa Nougat was built with hosting in mind, and the audio infrastructure reflects that. One unique feature is the placement of DJ input connections at several locations around the villa, including outdoors. This required careful coordination during installation so that guests could connect DJ equipment in different areas rather than being tied to one designated performance location.
Since installation, the client has been very happy with the system, with particularly positive feedback on both its appearance and performance.
As Ernie Wohlleben, Owner of Architech Designs, explains:
"The client wanted the villa to feel like a private resort where the family and their guests could truly escape, and the sound had to match that. From the first demo, K-array won the client over."
At Villa Nougat, the audio system is part of the property's larger hospitality experience. It supports an open architectural concept, accommodates the way guests entertain, and brings together design considerations and performance in a setting where both matter.
