K-array Delivers Invisible Audio for FOX Sports at Super Bowl LIV

Fox Sports set out to create a broadcast environment for Super Bowl LIV that not only delivered world-class production capabilities but also immersed viewers in the unique energy of Miami’s South Beach. The goal was to build a visually striking and technically seamless nine-acre broadcast campus, right on the sand. For audio, that meant finding a solution that could deliver crystal-clear sound without disrupting the scenic integrity of the sprawling set or the live audience experience.

Rod Conti from Fox Sports shares his views on the project.

To meet this challenge, CP Communications turned to K-array for an audio system that could deliver power, flexibility, and discretion. K-array’s Anakonda-KAN200+ flexible loudspeakers were woven throughout the live audience seating areas. Their low-profile, bendable design allowed technicians to snake the speakers along the set structure and adjust positioning on the fly as programming shifted throughout the week. This provided consistent, intelligible sound reinforcement without visually disrupting the aesthetic.

For longer-throw coverage, Kobra-KK102 line arrays were deployed, offering sleek form and strong projection across the open-air venue. Additionally, Firenze-KH7 loudspeakers delivered robust output for stage monitoring and on-set reinforcement, ensuring talent and technical staff could rely on accurate, high-fidelity audio throughout the broadcast.

The result was a truly immersive broadcast set, where K-array’s discreet speaker technology blended seamlessly with the beach themed studio while delivering premium audio coverage. With more than 10 miles of fiber cable, multiple production stages, and hundreds of hours of live content filmed across the campus, every element of the setup needed to perform reliably and adapt quickly. K-array’s sound systems rose to the occasion.

“We wanted to make it all work aesthetically, but it also had to be completely functional,” said Rod Conti, VP of Operations at Fox Sports. “We fell in love with the K-array solution. The Anakondas gave us incredible flexibility and clean integration. We were able to tuck them into the set so well, you wouldn’t even know they were there unless someone pointed them out.”

K-array was selected not only for its acoustic performance but also for its ability to deliver powerful audio in unconventional formats. On a beachfront studio with sand underfoot and cameras capturing every angle, traditional speaker boxes were not an option. K-array’s innovative product line made high-impact audio possible without compromising the look or feel of the space.
