Lilo

Lilo, a California coastal restaurant rooted in movement, nature, and fine dining, opened in April and earned a Michelin star just ten weeks later. The restaurant offers a choreographed experience that begins on a heated patio with small bites and transitions to an intimate 22-seat chef’s counter for a curated tasting menu. To complement the immersive experience, the audio system needed to be equally refined, delivering clear, even coverage without disrupting the visual design.

Lilo’s minimalist palette and use of reflective materials like glass walls and tile floors created a need for controlled audio dispersion. The client emphasized aesthetics as much as performance, requiring a system that was virtually invisible yet capable of filling the space with warm, full-range sound. Outdoor components also needed to withstand exposure to the elements without compromising reliability or appearance.

Uncanned Music, tasked with the system design and installation, identified K-array as the only solution capable of addressing Lilo’s unique set of requirements. Vyper-KV52 II line array speakers were selected for their slim profile, customizable finishes, and ability to provide wide, focused dispersion with minimal visual impact. To further enhance Lilo’s interior design, four units were custom-plated in 24-karat gold, and five were color-matched to Sherwin-Williams Renwick Golden Oak.

The KV52 II speakers delivered precision coverage throughout the space while avoiding reflections from hard surfaces. Rumble-KU210 and KU26 subwoofers added depth and richness to the system without visible intrusion. All components were selected for their durability, as portions of the system are exposed to outdoor conditions year round. The entire system is powered by two Kommander KA34 amplifiers with presets optimized specifically for K-array speakers.

The installation exceeded expectations. Music flows naturally throughout the indoor and outdoor spaces, supporting the pacing and tone of the meal. Each guest, regardless of seating location, enjoys consistent, high-quality audio that enhances the dining experience.

“They are super happy with the sound and the look of the system,” said David Allen at Uncanned Music. “We agreed there was no other system that could have been a more perfect fit for the project.”
